The Hearing Aid Donation Center is one of several programs under Hearing Charities of America (HCOA). HCOA (founded by Sertoma) supports those impacted by speech and hearing disorders via expanding awareness, volunteerism, and philanthropy in the communities Hearing Charities serves. Hearing Charities provides resources for hearing professionals, manufacturers and individuals with hearing issues. They do this through three related activities: awareness programs, scholarships and Adopt-An-Agency, all of which reinforce the commitment to communication in every community.
HCOA’s mission is to create a hearing healthy world through raising awareness and promoting collaborations. Hearing Charities of America connects those who need information, education, hearing health services and assistive devices with those who can help meet their needs. From audiologists to not-for-profit organizations, device manufacturers to teachers and everyone in between, HCOA encourages participation in their programs, using their services and calling on them as a primary support resource in raising awareness of hearing health issues. The Hearing Aid Donation Center was developed specifically to provide hearing aids to low-income children and adults who are hearing impaired.
The activities of Hearing Charities and of those organizations it supports are limited to charitable, religious, educational and scientific purposes, including the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law).
Hearing Charities accomplishes the mission through education programs including SAFEEars!,
scholarships, the Adopt-An-Agency program and A Sound Investment, where funds are raised for the mission through the CELEBRATE SOUND walk event.
